Apple Quicktime to make MP3 player work

I have previous published a way to add an MP3 player to your blog so that you can have music for your blog at Adding Music to your blog. I received one comment from a blogger: "hey peter thanks for posting these topic...but i dont know why it doesnt work for me!...i have tried a thousand times, and i cant make it work!"

One of the problem may be you do not have the proper plugin in your computer, in which case you may see in place of the MP3 player, something like the screenshot below:

plugin missing

What you may need is the Apple Quicktime plugin. Click on

plugin missing

and if nothing happens, you will probably get a yellow bar at the top of the browser saying pop-up block. Click on option and select allow for relevant site. Click on

plugin missing

again and install Quicktime. Hope this will solve his problem.

Did it work? Will welcome feedback (more details) as they can be useful for assessing the usefulness of a post and updating if necessary.

  3. hey i tried adding an mp3 to my blog but it didnt work even though i have quick time. any suggestions?

  4. Hi beatlesfan,

I am a great Beatles fan myself, plus some other bands and singers. But that is as far as my enthusiasm for music in blogs goes. I find a method to do it, I test it, it works, I publish it. I am no music on the web expert and so can't offer much help.

Only thing I can say is after I got my new computer, I saw those music players that used to work no longer working. I installed Apple Quicktime and it worked again. However, computer stuff is complicated, with many versions of every program. Sometimes you have the wrong version, and what you want to work don't work. I am also no computer expert, only knows of its complexities and how small things can cause problems.

  5. Hi Peter

I would also like to embed the mp3 player on my blog the way that you do in the "GOOD HOBBY IDEAS"(or in an individual post - if you look at my blog you will see that at the moment I have the ODEO MP3 Google gadget at the top-right of the blog) but when I try to add the MP3 player I also get the "add plugin" message (re: Quicktime which I installed) - strangely this only happens when looking at my blog with Mozilla firefox and even though I add the plugin, I still get the green jigsaw piece and not the MP3 player when viewing the blog throgh Firefox, yet I do see yours on the GOOD HOBBY IDEAS blog whichever browser i use - why would this be?!

I can see the MP3 player and it works ok if I look at my site with IE - any thoughts?

    Thanks in advance

  6. Hi P,

I made a few posts on music and did a few test/demo, but not sure which post in "GOOD HOBBY IDEAS" it is in. In any case, I am not a big music on website fan but make posts about it because bloggers want it. I am no expert. I just test and publish what works.

I really don't know what is causing your problem, but if it is anything Firefox related, try asking at Mozila FireFox. They are quit active.

    autoplay=false (no space)?
