Where to paste the AdSense codes?

Update: This is an old post but is still applicable to those using the old classic Blogger template. Those using the New xml Blogger template should use the HTML/Javascript gadget (Page Element)

Where to paste the AdSense codes? This will depend on where you want the ads on your site. Probably the most prominent place to place it will be just below the header, like on this site. If so:
1. log into Dashboard
2. click the TEMPLATE tab
3. look for the codes you see above and paste the codes where you see Paste AdSense codes here

Update: With the newly introduced Blogger Beta, there is now an easier way to put in your AdSense (and other, eg. Amazon) scripts, and to move them around. See Blogger Beta - adding advertisement and hit counter scripts

  1. Just signed up for adsense minutes ago.

How and where do I place code so that Adsense appears in the middle of each post?

Any comments on the best location for maximum CTR?

  2. For ads in the middle of each post, you will have to paste the codes into the post itself. However scripts are not allowed in the posts by Blogger. So you will have to hack. Someone has the hack, but I don't know where it is now. If I find it, I will post it.

The best position for max CTR is probably the middle of the post, but probably has the most irritation factor.

  3. My humble and profuse thanks Peter.

After my Adsense account is approved, I can't wait to test your provided answer.

Will this method work for WordPress as well?

Or is it necessary in WordPress since perhaps you can place the code directly where you want it?

    (Haven't used WordPress yet.)

  4. REMINDER: Always backup template before making changes to it.

  5. Hi Peter,

Yes, I did backup the template first.

However, I followed the instructions provided by Ads in the Middle.

I copied and pasted the code as instructed.

I then placed the tag for Adsense [Blogger will not allow the tag syntax) in the blog HTML precisely where I wanted the ads to appear.

There was no change to the ads position at the top of the post. I saw no affect on the blog at all.

I Emailed the author about 12 hours ago. So far no response.

Have you tried the Ads in the Middle coding?

    Do you have a solution?

(By the time you read this, the ads may be at the bottom or elsewhere).

  7. Thanks for a great blog; just curious, would you consider placing the code for me inside of my blog so I can have the ads right where I want them?
    Thanks, Warren

  8. Getting someone to place the adsense codes in the template for you will involve revealing your password to a third party which is not wise. For a guide to where to paste the codes, refer to Adding content via the template

  12. You only have a sidebar on the right side of your blog, thus, you cannot post any ads on the left side of your blog.

If you want to post ads or other content on the left side of your blog, you will have to change your sidebar to the left side of your blog. To see how to do that, refer to How to make the sidebar display on the left

Another way is to add another sidebar. This can be a difficult task. You can, however, use ready-made 3 column templates. You can see examples of such blogs here:

For instruction on how to do this, see Blogger for Dummies is now 3 column for Blogger classic blogs.

For Blogger Beta blogs, refer to 3 column templates for Blogger Beta blogs

This post was published before New Blogger was introduced. Anyway, I have put an update at the bottom of the post. Don't know if you have seen it and follow the link.

Also, if you want me to answer your question, you need to let me know whether you are using the old classic template or the New Blogger template. You can find out by referring to Old classic template or New Blogger template?.

Regarding templates for AdSense, I have written a post What is the best template for AdSense.

I am not AdSense and have no authority to aid in your application. Because AdSense have managed to get so many publishers they are now more choosy. I guess you just and to keep on trying provide good content and pray to your God.
